In a study of 142 women and 12 men, ages 18-80 years, researchers report higher concentrations of antibodies against the Y-linked protein NLGN4Y in blood samples from women compared with those from men, and higher concentrations of such antibodies in women with homosexual sons particularly homosexual sons with older brothers-compared with women with no sons or only heterosexual sons, suggesting an association between maternal immune response to NLGN4Y and sexual orientation in male offspring.
