Researchers report that VirScan, a recently developed tool for detection of antibodies against viruses known to infect humans, yielded results concordant with conventional viral screening in 45 kidney transplant recipients, ages 22-77 years, and found that antibody responses were largely unchanged 1 year after transplantation, regardless of immunosuppressive treatment, suggesting that VirScan could represent an easy-to-use, safe, and reproducible approach to monitor post-transplant viral infections.
