Evan Lowder, Assistant Professor, Criminology, Law and Society, is serving as a co-investigator on a study evaluating Recovery Works, an Indiana program that focuses on pre-incarceration diversion services and post-incarceration re-entry services. The goal of the program is to divert low-level offenders from incarceration to community services and to reduce recidivism by 20 percent.
Lowder is assisting in the development of protocols for the cleaning, merging, and tabulation of administrative data. She is also assisting in the development of an analytic strategy to address the following three research questions:
Lowder will direct other co-investigators in the completion of data analysis. She will also work with the research team to draft findings for the research questions.
"Recovery Works holds great potential to improve community outcomes for a historically underserved population in need of behavioral health services," Lowder said.
Lowder received $25,000 from Wayne State University for this project. Funding began in January 2021 and will end in June 2021.
