Columbia study shows widely used artery clearing device does not help patients during heart attack
A recent study published in JAMA found that distal microcirculatory protection devices used during angioplasty procedures in heart attacks failed to improve patient outcomes. Despite successfully removing debris from arteries, the treatment did not reduce major adverse cardiac events or affect ST segment normalization.
