Biosynthetic corneas formulated with recombinant collagen restore vision and nerve growth
A 2-year clinical study demonstrated that biosynthetic corneas formulated with recombinant human type III collagen restored vision and promoted nerve regeneration in patients with corneal damage. The results provide proof-of-concept for a viable replacement for human donor tissue or animal-sourced collagens.
