The Global Viral Forecasting Initiative has received $11 million from Google.org and The Skoll Foundation to implement a pandemic early warning system. GVFI's strategy aims to track emergent pandemics to their source, providing potentially vital months or years of advanced warning before the next HIV or SARS emerges.
