Gaining too much weight during pregnancy nearly doubles risk of having a heavy baby
A study of over 40,000 women found that those who gained more than 40 pounds during pregnancy were nearly twice as likely to have a heavy baby. Heavy babies are at risk for birth complications and may become overweight or obese children and adults.
