Research finds surgery outperforms drug therapy in treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia
A 17-year study of over 2,000 men found that surgery significantly reduces urinary incontinence and lower urinary tract symptoms compared to medication. Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) showed the greatest improvement in symptom scores and incontinence rates.
