The findings show that the US and China each hold advantages in different domains, while the gap between them continues to narrow. According to Cure, the central challenge facing the US is not a lack of scientific excellence, but rather the absence of sufficiently efficient translational infrastructure to turn frontier research into clinical and commercial outcomes at speed. China, by contrast, has made sustained investments in development speed, cost efficiency, and large-scale clinical trial capacity , gradually building a more efficient biomedical development engine and significantly compressing drug development timelines.
