Researchers report the use of a total-body PET/CT scanner, combined with an advanced image reconstruction technique, to image radiotracer transport in a human volunteer on 100 ms timescales and to obtain clear images of changes in the cardiac blood pool throughout the cardiac cycle, with image quality being superior to that obtained using conventional methods; such an approach could be used to track blood flow, neural activity, and real-time motion, according to the authors.
