Ben Ouagrham-Gormley Studying Ethical Issues Surrounding Human Germline Genome Editing In China's Global Scientific Strategy
Sonia Ben Ouagrham-Gormley, Associate Professor, Schar School of Policy and Government, received two funding awards from the National Science Foundation to examine ethical issues related to human germline genome editing in China's global scientific strategy.
For the proposed project, Ben Ouagrham-Gormley will be involved in the research design of the project, analyzing data, organizing the workshops in Beijing and Washington, D.C., and organizing interviews with Chinese and U.S. scientists and government officials.
The research findings will be published in peer-reviewed journals and at professional conferences.
Ben Ouagrham-Gormley received awards in the amounts of $158,606 and $18,000 from NSF for this work. Funding began in March 2021 and will end in late August 2022.
