Portland State University investigators from the Departments of Chemistry and Biology have received a $350,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for a state-of-the-art liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometer that will allow researchers to detect, identify, and quantify a wide array of molecules from diverse samples.

The instrument will also be available for use in several advanced instrumentation courses at PSU, and will support the University's goals of broadening the participation by women and underrepresented groups in STEM education and research. Housed in the Department of Chemistry's Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility, it will be available to PSU students and faculty across several disciplines, as well as to faculty and students from OHSU and local four-year institutions
