BETHESDA, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Kandice Tanner, of the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, USA, has been named recipients of the 2027 Michael and Kate Bárány Award. Tanner will be honored at the Society’s 71st Annual Meeting, being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 20-24, 2027.
Tanner will receive the Michael and Kate Bárány Award for discoveries elucidating the biophysical determinants of organ-specific metastasis in a living animal.
“Kandice is an innovative thinker and a fearless experimentalist,” said BPS President Karen Fleming of Johns Hopkins University. “She has established herself as a world leader in the research community that investigates the impact of physical properties on complex biological processes within tissue and within intact organisms. It is my pleasure to recognize her for this award.”
About the Award – The Michael and Kate Bárány Award recognizes an outstanding contribution to biophysics by a person who has not achieved a senior rank (of full professor or equivalent) at the time of nomination.
