Articles from the Third Sackler Colloquium on the Science of Science Communication explore strategies to communicate science more effectively to the public. Among the articles are an examination of policy analysts’ common practice of reporting exact predictions of policy impacts while omitting measures of uncertainty in predictions, recommendations for effective science communication by organizations with limited resources, an illustration of the particular challenges tied to conveying findings about changes in the organization of the American economy, and an exploration of the relative roles of the prevalence of misinformation and faulty communication on public distrust in the scientific enterprise.
