Air Force Office of Scientific Research's Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Program Manager, Ed Lee recently received a Trailblazer Award at the 23rd Annual Black Engineer of the Year Award's (BEYA) Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.

"I am pleased that AFOSR and my work with HBCUs is recognized for having a direct impact on the educational community," said Lee.

For more than two decades, the BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference has attracted top professionals and students from around the country and from and every field of science, engineering and technology. Some participants are executives who are seeking innovative products or thought. Some are setting out on a new direction midway in their careers and others are recent college graduates. However, all of the attendees make themselves known by setting their sights ever higher.

Trailblazer honorees like Lee, are men and women who are creating opportunities for others in science, research, technology and development. They set their standards high, promote innovation and open doors for others who can then follow and then become leaders themselves.
