Nine Horizon Europe research projects within the Transformative Change Cluster - BAMBOO, BioAgora, BIOTraCes, BIONEXT, CircHive, DAISY, PLANET4B, TCforBE, and TRANSPATH – are co-hosting a joint results conference on 4–5 June 2026 at Comet Louise in Brussels, Belgium. The event consolidates and advances shared knowledge on enabling and accelerating transformative societal change to safeguard biodiversity. Convening around 150 in person participants from science, policy, and practice, the conference marks the culmination of sustained research efforts across the nine projects and a key moment for translating findings into actionable policy guidance.
A 1.5-day programme built around shared knowledge and strategic dialogue
The conference is structured across four parallel tracks — covering systems, models and scenarios; governance, policy and innovation; society, values and practice; and a dedicated poster and visualisation strand — alongside three plenary sessions.
Day 1 is titled Exploring Transformative Pathways and will open with each of the nine projects presenting their main contributions and key messages for policy and practice, followed by a moderated panel discussion on convergences and open questions across the cluster.
Parallel session blocks throughout Day 1 will explore biodiversity impacts and nexus approaches, governance and policy frameworks, transformative research and innovation methods, real-world case studies from value chains and landscapes, and the role of values, equity, and societal change. A cross-project synthesis plenary will close the day, with rapporteurs drawing together highlights and framing key questions for Day 2.
Day 2, themed From Knowledge to Action , will focus on translating cluster findings into decision-making, financing, and future research agendas. Sessions will address the integration of transformative knowledge into policy processes, pathways toward a nature-positive financial system, and a future-oriented agenda for biodiversity research and collaboration. A closing plenary will feature an interactive policy dialogue and synthesis inputs from across the cluster, followed by closing remarks from the European Commission and project coordinators.
Bridging research and decision-making on biodiversity
A strong emphasis is placed on policy relevance throughout the programme. The conference is designed to inform EU strategies including the Biodiversity Strategy and the European Green Deal, as well as global processes such as IPBES, including its forthcoming assessments on nexus approaches and transformative change. Through direct engagement with policymakers and financial actors, the event will help ensure that transformative insights are actionable and aligned with current and emerging policy needs.
The conference will also serve as a platform for shaping future collaboration and transdisciplinary research agendas, building on the complementary strengths of the nine projects to support sustained impact toward nature-positive and equitable futures.
