Richard Alley, Evan Pugh Professor of Geosciences, is one of the inaugural five recipients of the U.S. News & World Reports STEM Leadership Hall of Fame awards.

The award winners were selected by a field of distinguished members of industry, academia and nonprofit organizations in the science, technology, engineering and math fields (STEM). The award is given to leaders who achieved measurable results in STEM fields, challenged established processes and conventional wisdom, inspired a shared vision and motivated legions of future STEM professionals. Emphasis was placed on innovation, resilience and adaptability.

Alley will receive his award on June 29 at a luncheon and panel discussion during U.S. News STEM Solutions 2012 in Dallas, Texas. The award is sponsored by Dell and presented by STEMConnector™.
