Five biotech startups from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) are participating in the BIO International Convention 2026 (BIO 2026), taking place from 22 to 25 June 2026 in San Diego, United States. The HKU teams are showcasing a range of cutting-edge research achievements across vaccine development, innovative therapies, precision diagnostics, and AI-enabled medical technologies, demonstrating the University’s leadership in knowledge transfer and its commitment to translating world-class research into impactful clinical solutions.

HKU is dedicated to advancing cross-disciplinary research and innovation-driven entrepreneurship, supported by a robust and sustainable knowledge transfer ecosystem. Through participating in this international Convention, the University aims to showcase HKU’s outstanding research excellence in medicine and biotechnology to the global audience. This initiative will further strengthen our industry-academia-research collaborations, forge new strategic partnerships, and ultimately seek to bridge the gap between laboratory breakthroughs and real-world healthcare solutions, delivering meaningful benefits to patients worldwide.

HKU biotech startups participating are as follows:

Recognised as one of the world’s largest and most influential biotech events, BIO 2026 brings together more than 20,000 industry leaders, investors, and innovators from around the world. This year, the Hong Kong Pavilion, organised by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) and co-organised by Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), marks its largest exhibition scale to date. Alongside HKU and the other four local universities, 41 innovative enterprises will also take part, collectively showcasing Hong Kong’s forefront research and development capabilities in next-generation therapeutics and diagnostics.
