BELLINGHAM, Washington, USA — 13 August 2026 — SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics , proudly announces that it is now accepting submissions for Advanced Quantum Photonics (AQP), the scholarly publisher’s newest journal. As the first peer-reviewed journal for applied quantum research, AQP fills a critical gap in the quantum research publishing landscape, enabling collaboration and further advancing this critical field.

Each issue of Advanced Quantum Photonics aims to include contributions from the quantum industry, including implementation and application demonstrations. Submissions from researchers that explicitly address the technological context, implementation challenges, and application pathways of the reported work are also encouraged. Proposals for review articles and perspectives that assess progress, limitations, and opportunities across quantum materials, components, and systems should be sent as proposals to the editor-in-chief of AQP prior to submission.

Launching AQP was a natural extension of the growing support and opportunities SPIE offers to meet the demands of this rapidly evolving field. With SPIE adding Quantum West , co-located with Photonics West, and Quantum Catalyst to its conference portfolio, AQP is a more natural home for research presented at SPIE conferences than the existing theoretical quantum journals. By bringing together researchers from academia, national laboratories, and industry who are advancing real-world quantum technologies, AQP is positioned to be a high-impact journal. To increase the visibility and global dissemination of their research, authors can publish with open access at no cost for the first two years.

Authors may submit manuscripts to Advanced Quantum Photonics through the SPIE Digital Library .
