BETHESDA, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Erin D. Sheets, of the University of Minnesota Duluth, USA has been named the recipient of the Society’s 2027 Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award. Sheets will be honored at the Society’s 71st Annual Meeting, being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 20-24, 2027.
Sheets will receive the Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award for an exceptional, decades-long commitment to the structural health and inclusivity of the biophysics community, demonstrated by visionary leadership in Society governance and the creation of enduring mentorship networks .
“Erin has dedicated herself not only to the pursuit of scientific research, but also to a commitment to the community she joined as a graduate student. As a member of that community, Erin strove not only to give back, but to help shape the organization as it grew and welcomed future generations of researchers,” said BPS President Karen Fleming of Johns Hopkins University. “Through a commitment to service, Erin has left indelible marks on the committees, leadership roles, and researchers she has come into contact with, and this community is all the better for it.”
About the Award – The Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award recognizes a member whose service and contributions in the field of biophysics extend beyond achievements in research. The Distinguished Service Award was established by BPS in 1997 and renamed the Rosalba Kampman Distinguished Service Award in 2020 to honor its namesake who served with distinction as BPS’s Executive Officer from 1998 to 2018.
