Researchers report that activation of glutamate-producing neurons within the medial septal complex (MSc), a brain area associated with emotion, and specifically within MSc projections into the paraventricular hypothalamus, was associated with reduced nighttime and daytime food intake in mice without leading to maladaptive behaviors, revealing a previously undescribed anorexigenic neural circuit for appetite control.
