Leah M. Adams, Associate Professor, Psychology and Women and Gender Studies, Psychology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), is studying how people who sustain spinal cord injuries through violence adapt to their new circumstances using national longitudinal data, interviews with people with these injuries, and interviews with specialty-mental health providers who work with them.
She will provide scientific leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, perform project management, and manage data. She will also lead dissemination efforts of study results to academic and community audiences.
Adams received $285,000 from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation for this study. Funding began in late April 2026 and will end in late April 2028.
