A study finds that if a campaign to replace solid fuels in households in northern China with electricity or natural gas is successful in more than 60% of households, air pollution emissions in the region can be substantially reduced; the study suggests that health benefits would accrue from a reduction of wintertime indoor air particulate matter concentrations from around 209 μg/m3 to around 125 μg/m3, according to the authors.
