Using a demographic simulation paradigm and data from the US Census Bureau, researchers estimate that the number of white and black Americans 50 years of age and older and living without a partner, children, siblings, or parents will likely increase from 2015-2060, with the percentage of kinless adults approximately doubling for white Americans and more than tripling for black Americans, findings that are salient due to links between kinlessness and physical and mental health.
