The Lancet publishes first clinical trial data of a fully bioabsorbable drug eluting stent
The ABSORB clinical trial demonstrated no stent thrombosis and a low rate of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) in patients with coronary artery disease. The bioabsorbable everolimus eluting stent was shown to be safe and effective, with successful deployment and high device success rates.
