New grant to support spanish language suicide and HIV/AIDs prevention training

A new $10,000 federal grant will provide bilingual training on suicide and HIV/AIDS prevention to community health workers in rural New Mexico. The goal is to increase knowledge and raise awareness about these public health issues among Hispanic/Latino populations.

New Mexico cancer patients have lower survival rate, study finds

Researchers at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine found that New Mexicans with 10 common cancers have a significantly worse five-year survival rate. Hispanic populations along the U.S.-Mexico border fare even worse.
