Is there a prospective association between obesity and periodontal disease?

A study of 36,903 men found significant associations between obesity measures and periodontal disease. Obesity was associated with a 25% and 29% increased risk of periodontal disease compared to normal weight, with waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio also linked to an increased risk.
