Charleston, S.C. (April 21, 2026) – The Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS), a non-profit membership of translational scientists from the nation’s leading academic medical centers, honored its Translational Science Award recipients at Translational Science 2026. At this year’s annual event, ACTS named MUSC clinical psychologist Lindsay Squeglia, Ph.D., among the recipients of the 2026 ACTS Award for Supporting an Excellent Translational Science Workforce.

Squeglia holds many influential roles, both in her clinical work, where she focuses on substance use and prevention and its effect on adolescent brain development, and in the mentoring space. She is the clinical and scientific advisor for the “Just Say Know” school-based substance use prevention program and co-leads the Translational Workforce Development program at the South Carolina Clinical & Translational Research (SCTR) Institute. As co-director of the MUSC Youth Collaborative, Squeglia has mentored more than 100 trainees, from high school students to junior faculty members. “My goal is reducing barriers and individualizing mentorship so that we can capitalize on those strengths and help people reach their goals,” she said.

These awards recognize investigators for their outstanding contributions to clinical research and the translational science field. Individuals and teams are nominated by their colleagues and peers and may be selected from all industry segments.

"The ACTS awards recognize talented investigators who translate their findings from the bench to bedside and ultimately into the community. Awardees are in all phases of studies and disciplines throughout the workforce, which includes investigators, trainees, educators and research teams. These award winners and their work represent the values and mission of ACTS for innovation, team science and community involvement, applying principles of translational science,” said ACTS President Allan R. Brasier, M.D.

The ACTS Award for Supporting an Excellent Translational Science Workforce was created to recognize individuals who, through their careers of mentoring, policymaking or team building have contributed to a more excellent translational science workforce.
