Glenview, IL – The American College of Chest Physicians ® (CHEST) is pleased to announce that its flagship journal, CHEST ® , received a 2025 Journal Impact Factor™ of 10.2, an important measure of the journal’s continued influence within pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.
Released annually by Clarivate in the Journal Citation Reports™, the Journal Impact Factor measures citations to a journal’s recent publications and is reflective of the frequency with which a journal’s published research is cited and contributes to the broader scientific conversation.
“The 10.2 Impact Factor represents the collective contributions of the researchers who entrust the journal CHEST with their work, the peer reviewers and editors who help ensure its quality, and the clinicians and investigators who read, cite, and apply its content,” said Peter Mazzone, MD, FCCP, Editor in Chief of CHEST . “We are grateful to everyone who plays a role in maintaining the quality and rigor of the journal. While citation-based metrics are only one way to understand a journal’s impact, this result is an encouraging reflection of the value the chest medicine community finds in the work we publish.”
As the flagship journal of the American College of Chest Physicians, CHEST publishes original research, evidence-based guidelines, state-of-the-art reviews, and other content addressing the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chest diseases. The journal serves an international audience of clinicians and researchers across pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. Recently, CHEST ® Critical Care , part of the journal CHEST portfolio that provides open-access content dedicated to critical care medicine, received its first-ever Journal Impact Factor , marking a significant milestone in its continued growth and influence.
The CHEST journal portfolio continues to expand the reach of content through complementary multimedia activities. To leverage the success of the Humanities section , in 2025, the journal CHEST debuted a new podcast hosted by Abhishek Bhardwaj, MD, that dives into deeper discussions surrounding popular Humanities Exhalations articles.
