BETHESDA, MD – The Biophysical Society is pleased to announce that Lauren L. Porter, of the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, USA, has been named the recipient of the 2027 Early Career Award. Porter will be honored at the Society’s 71st Annual Meeting, being held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from February 20-24, 2027.
Porter will receive the Early Career Award for insightful work on predicting and understanding fold-switching proteins.
“It is a privilege to recognize the work of an early career researcher such as Lauren,” said BPS President Karen Fleming of Johns Hopkins University. “She has shown remarkable vision in appreciating the importance of and developing the theory required to understand fold-switching. Her work will unify previously disparate fields and advance our general understanding of protein folding.”
About the Award – The Early Career Award recognizes a scientist with six or fewer years of service in an independent position at an academic institution, national research lab, or private research organization who has made noteworthy contributions in biophysics research and service during their independence.
