Researchers report that a record of the coral skeleton nitrogen isotope ratio (15N/14N) from the outer reef of Bermuda exhibited minimal changes over the past 130 years, in contrast to published model simulations predicting a significant decline in the 15N/14N ratio during the same period due to anthropogenic atmospheric nitrogen inputs, suggesting that anthropogenic nitrogen deposition in the North Atlantic may be less than previously thought.
