David Hart, Professor, Schar School of Policy and Government, received $287,797 from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) for a project in which he will conduct research in conjunction with ITIF's Clean Energy Innovation Policy Project to deepen the analytic case for clean energy innovation policy.

Hart's work with the project will be organized around two themes: (1) Enhancing the impact of federal clean energy innovation policy, and (2) Strengthening U.S. sectoral and regional clean energy innovation systems.

Via this work, Hart will generate reports, journal articles, editorials, public events, and other research products in collaboration with ITIF staff and other researchers.

As for the importance of the effort, Hart said: "To avert the worst consequences of climate change, the world needs new technologies, institutions, and business models. U.S. federal policy can play a powerful role in stimulating such innovation."

Funding for this work began in December 2020 and will end in late November 2022.
