On the morning of January 21, the 2026 iEnergy Frontier Forum on Power and Energy and Editorial Board Meeting was held in Hong Kong during 2026 IEEE Power & Energy Society International Meeting (2026 IEEE PESIM). More than 50 distinguished experts and scholars around the world attended the meeting, including Chi Yung Chung, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Co-General Chair of the 2026 IEEE PESIM; Dushan Boroyevich, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and Professor at Virginia Tech; Nikos Hatziargyriou, Member of the Athens Academy of Science and Professor at the National Technical University of Athens; Daniel Kammen, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and Professor at Johns Hopkins University; Ziqiang Zhu, Fellow of the U.K. Royal Academy of Engineering and Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Goran Strbac, Associate Editor-in-Chief of iEnergy and Professor at Imperial College London; and Xingyi Huang, Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The opening ceremony featured addresses by Professor Chongqing Kang, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University, and Professor Jinliang He, Editor-in-Chief of iEnergy . The meeting was presided over by Professor Kai Sun, Vice Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University.
In his opening remarks, Professor Kang emphasized that the Department of Electrical Engineering, Tsinghua University attaches great importance to the high-quality development of iEnergy . He stated that the department is fully committed to supporting the journal in achieving new breakthroughs in interdisciplinary fusion and international academic influence, contributing Tsinghua’s wisdom and strength to the global energy transition and the realization of carbon neutrality goals.
Professor He reviewed the journal’s achievements since its launch and expressed sincere appreciation to the editorial board members for their dedicated contributions. He noted that the letter “i” represents not only “current,” but also intelligence, innovation, and interconnection, and expressed his hope that the editorial board members would work together to build iEnergy into a world-class academic platform in the field of power and energy.
The meeting then featured the presentation ceremony of the iEnergy Best Paper Award. Professor Kang and Professor He presented the awards and extended their warm congratulations to the winning authors. During the editorial board appointment ceremony, several renowned scholars were formally appointed as new members, injecting fresh academic vitality into the journal’s future development.
In the invited talk session, Professor Daniel Kammen delivered an in-depth analysis of the critical roles of materials science and artificial intelligence in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development. Professor Xingyi Huang systematically introduced radiative cooling materials and their application prospects in power equipment. Professor Goran Strbac shared holistic perspectives on the operation and planning of low-carbon energy systems, highlighting the strategic value of flexibility resources in future energy systems. The presentations sparked extensive interest and lively in-depth discussions among the attending experts and scholars.
Following the invited talk session, Professor Jinliang He and Dr. Feifei He, the Managing Editor of iEnergy presented the journal report, systematically reviewing progress in publication metrics, database indexing, and international impact.During the editorial board working discussion session, members engaged in a deep exchange regarding the journal’s positioning, topic planning, peer review mechanisms, and internationalization strategies, offering valuable recommendations to continuously enhance the journal’s academic quality and global influence.
The successful convening of the meeting further strengthened consensus among editorial board members and clarified the key directions for iEnergy ’s future development. It serves as a strong pillar for iEnergy to sustain its trajectory toward becoming a leading international academic journal.
