Reston, VA (February 20, 2026)— New research has been published ahead-of-print by The Journal of Nuclear Medicine ( JNM ). JNM is published by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, an international scientific and medical organization dedicated to advancing nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and theranostics—precision medicine that allows diagnosis and treatment to be tailored to individual patients in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Summaries of the newly published research articles are provided below.

Standardizing FAP Imaging Reports
A new reporting framework called FAP-RADS version 1.0 was evaluated for consistency in interpreting PET/CT scans from patients with lung and urothelial cancers. Readers with different experience levels reviewed scans and assigned scores. Results showed moderate to high agreement in overall assessments, lesion scoring, and decisions about potential radiopharmaceutical therapy eligibility.

Targeted Radiation Therapy for Sarcoma
An updated analysis examined a targeted radiation treatment using a FAP-binding tracer in patients with sarcoma and other advanced cancers who had no remaining standard treatment options. Thirty patients received therapy, with imaging used to track drug distribution, radiation dose, side effects, and tumor response over time during follow-up.

Genes May Influence Prostate Cancer Treatment Outcomes
A study examined how genetic mutations affect outcomes in men with advanced prostate cancer treated with targeted radiopharmaceutical therapy. Medical records from 72 patients were reviewed to compare survival, disease progression, and prostate-specific antigen responses among those with different inherited or tumor-related genetic alterations after treatment.
