Hong Wang elected to European Academy of Sciences and Arts

Hong Wang, a senior distinguished R&D scientist at the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Transportation Research Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.

The academy, based in Salzburg, Austria, recognizes individuals for outstanding achievements in science, arts and governance. Its members include internationally recognized researchers, scholars and Nobel laureates.

At ORNL, Wang conducts research focused on connected and automated mobility systems, intelligent transportation technologies and complex dynamic systems. His work supports the development of advanced transportation and energy systems through modeling, control, optimization and data-driven methods.

Before joining ORNL in 2019, Wang held academic and research leadership positions in the United Kingdom and the United States, including serving as chair professor in process control at the University of Manchester.

Wang is also a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institute of Measurement and Control. His published research spans control systems, fault diagnosis, nonlinear systems, industrial processes control and intelligent transportation technologies.
