Using a dataset that included approximately 96% of the population in Austria, researchers developed a model based on regional primary care networks to determine how flow between primary care physicians (PCPs) and patients across 2 years affected delivery of adequate health services; when a critical fraction of PCPs were removed from networks, which varied between 5% and 40%, networks became significantly weaker, to a point where maintaining coverage for all patients was not possible, according to the authors.
