Barcelona, 26 August 2026 – The BMJH Sankalp Centre for Paediatric Haematology Oncology, a joint initiative by the Sankalp India Foundation and Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital to provide access to cures for serious blood disorders in children, has become the first centre in India to achieve JACIE certification, a landmark milestone for haematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy in the country.
JACIE certification is a globally recognised benchmark for quality in haematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy. The certification assesses all aspects of the transplant programme, including clinical care, stem cell collection, laboratory processing, and quality management systems, to ensure the delivery of safe, consistent, and effective care for patients based on FACT-JACIE Standards.
The achievement reflects the dedication of the multidisciplinary teams at BMJH-SANKALP Centre for Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, who have worked collaboratively to embed quality and continuous improvement across the entire transplant pathway. By meeting JACIE's rigorous requirements, the centre joins an international network of transplant programmes committed to excellence in patient care.
As access to stem cell transplantation continues to expand across India, ensuring quality alongside access is essential. For children with life-threatening blood disorders, including thalassaemia and sickle cell disease, transplantation can provide a cure. Achieving JACIE certification demonstrates that world-class care can be delivered consistently while broadening access to treatment.
