What The Study Did: In this study including all incarcerated individuals in 14 Massachusetts state prisons from April 2020 to January 2021 (on average 6,876 people), COVID-19 incidence was significantly higher in prisons operating at a higher percentage of their capacity and was significantly lower in prisons where a higher proportion of the incarcerated were housed in single-cell units.
