The annual Journalism Fellowships honor excellence in medical, health and science reporting, and provide travel and accommodations for Fauber and Singer to attend the 56th Annual Meeting in San Francisco, Calif., held April 24 – May 1, 2004.
"I think the meeting will be a wonderful opportunity to advance my understanding of neurology and develop sources that can help with future stories," said Fauber.
During the meeting, journalists learn about the latest advances in research and treatment for neurological disorders and make contacts with experts in the field. The on-site Press Room of the Moscone Convention Center will offer several media briefings and assistance with arranging interviews.
"I'll look for the latest research in the areas I often cover including autism, Alzheimer's disease and depression," said Singer, who is based in Boxboro, Mass. "I will also search for new trends or innovative theories as potential subjects for feature stories."
Fauber and Singer will be recognized during the meeting's Scientific and Career Milestones Awards Luncheon on April 28.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 18,000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to improving patient care through education and research. A neurologist is a doctor with specialized training in diagnosing, treating and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, autism and multiple sclerosis.
