Rockville, MD — The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) is pleased to announce this year's class of distinguished fellows. The title of Fellow of ARVO (FARVO) recognizes members for their accomplishments, leadership and contributions to the Association.

By accepting this honor, ARVO anticipates that fellows will continue to serve as role models and mentors for individuals pursuing careers in vision and ophthalmology research and to further ARVO's vision "… to facilitate the advancement of vision research and the prevention and cure of disorders of the visual system worldwide." This includes advancing basic and clinical knowledge and serving as the leading international forum for vision research and the primary advocate for vision science worldwide.

"It is a privilege to acknowledge the outstanding leadership and service these individuals have tirelessly given to the association," said ARVO President Mark Petrash, PhD, FARVO. "Each fellow is to be commended for being an integral part of the ARVO global community working to grow the field of vision and ophthalmology research."

The ARVO Fellows will be officially inducted at the Association's Annual Meeting this May at the ARVO/Alcon Keynote Session, Sunday, May 1 at 5:30pm. ARVO congratulates the fellows and thanks them for their dedication.
