Alexandria, VA – The American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) has announced Mohamed Hassan as the 2026 recipient of the AADOCR P&G New Faculty Research Fellowship. Hassan, from Washington University in St. Louis, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 55 th Annual Meeting of the AADOCR, which was held in conjunction with the 104 th General Session of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) and the 50 th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research on March 25-28, 2026 in San Diego, CA.

Hassan is a dentist-scientist whose goal is to establish a research program that bridges clinical orthodontics with regenerative craniofacial biology. He is currently completing his postdoctoral training, and aims to establish his own independent laboratory. His clinical and research training spans tier-1 research institutions in Egypt and the United States. He completed his dental and orthodontic training at Alexandria University, Egypt, before beginning his scientific career at the University of Washington. There, under the mentorship of Dr. Timothy Cox, he investigated craniofacial anomalies using mouse models and developed expertise in craniofacial genetics and developmental biology, which led to two publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Hassan has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications (H-Index 10), including first- and senior-author articles, review papers, and book chapters. His work has been published in leading journals such as the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics , JBMR Plus , EMBO Molecular Medicine, and others.

The goal of the AADOCR P&G New Faculty Research Fellowship is to support dental, oral, and craniofacial researchers at the early stages of their scientific careers and to enhance career development at the faculty level in science and academia. The $10,000 Fellowship is supported by P&G Professional Oral Health, Crest + Oral-B.
