Released in 2025, the present volume is the latest addition to the series.
This report undertakes a systematic examination of the comprehensive implications of applying the AI4S (AI for Science) to educational research. The core thesis is that AI4S-Ed conducts a transformative change that, while restructuring the entire workflow of educational knowledge production, also poses fundamental challenges to the methodological underpinnings, quality assurance frameworks, ethical protocols, and professional competencies of educational researchers. The future direction of this transformation hinges upon our ability to develop robust critical and reflective frameworks and prudent practice guidelines, alongside our efforts to fully leverage its potential.
About the Author
Chen Xiangdong is a Professor in the Department of Educational Information Technology, Faculty of Education, East China Normal University; Director of the Intelligent Educational Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence and Deputy Director of the Shanghai Lifelong Education Teacher Training Center. His research focuses on AI-based educational research methods, evidence-based practice for teachers, AI education in primary and secondary schools, computer-supported collaborative learning, and technology-supported teacher professional development. As the first author, he has published over 60 papers in core journals and authored nearly 10 books.
