Elizabeth Davis, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Seth B. Hunter, Associate Professor, Education Leadership and Policy, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), are examining factors contributing to chronic absenteeism in Stafford County, Virginia. Chronic absenteeism contributes to students not completing school and other negative outcomes. While Stafford County has improved its attendance rates in recent years, there are still some sub-groups of students who experience challenges to regularly attend school. This study will identify the root causes impacting chronic absenteeism for certain groups of students.
Hunter received $39,498 from Stafford County Public Schools for this project. Funding began in July 2026 and will end in late June 2027.
