CROWN POINT, Ind. — OYE Therapeutics Inc. , an innovative drug development company affiliated with Purdue University, has entered into a research collaboration with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) and The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Inc.
The research will evaluate the safety and efficacy of OYE’s novel intravenous caffeine formulation to bring patients out of general anesthesia sooner and accelerate postoperative recovery in a multicenter pivotal clinical study.
The trial’s military applications are particularly significant, as they aim to improve the survivability of wounded soldiers; enhance the safety of combat and medical teams; and optimize recovery, transport and evacuation processes from Role 2 and Role 3 care settings.
OYE’s civilian use case reduces mortality rates, lowers health care costs and improves surgical workflow efficiency across hospitals, surgery centers and postanesthesia care units, addressing more than 22 million high-risk surgical procedures annually.
OYE operates from the Purdue Technology Center in the Purdue Research Park of Northwest Indiana . Military medical experts at USU identified the company’s technology, leading to this research initiative.
