JMIR Publications’ JMIR Cancer invites submissions on breast cancer

10.08.26 | JMIR Publications

(Toronto, October 8, 2026) In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, JMIR Cancer is calling for original research, viewpoints, and clinical submissions for a new dedicated theme issue on breast cancer. JMIR Cancer is an open access, peer-reviewed journal indexed in PubMed Central, PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, DOAJ, and the Emerging Sources Citation Index (Clarivate).

Breast cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed malignancies worldwide, making the integration of digital health, innovative technology, and patient-centered strategies essential across the entire continuum of care. JMIR Cancer invites researchers, clinicians, computational scientists, and health care leaders to submit groundbreaking research to our dedicated theme section on breast cancer ( https://cancer.jmir.org/themes/558-breast-cancer ). We seek manuscripts that evaluate how technological, educational, and participatory innovations improve screening accuracy, streamline treatment protocols, optimize teleoncology workflows, and enhance long-term survivorship.

We particularly welcome submissions addressing high-impact areas such as mobile health applications for monitoring treatment side effects, artificial intelligence and machine learning models for risk prediction and mammography analysis, virtual decision-support tools, and digital platforms targeting post-treatment fatigue and psychosocial well-being. We also encourage evaluations of non-internet, offline, and community-based participatory interventions designed to reduce disparities and broaden equitable access to breast cancer screening and survivorship programs.

Topics of Interest

Example submission topics for this call for papers include the following:

Digital Health and mHealth: Mobile applications for tracking chemotherapy side effects, medication adherence, or post-operative recovery.

Teleoncology: Efficacy and patient experience of telehealth and remote monitoring in breast cancer care.

Education and Support: Novel educational platforms, virtual reality training for clinicians, or online support communities for patients and families.

AI and Machine Learning: Innovations in risk prediction, mammography screening, or personalized treatment planning.

Non-Internet Approaches: Innovative offline strategies, tools, or participatory programs designed to improve breast cancer research and care delivery.

Special Invitation: The Patients’ Corner

At JMIR Cancer , we believe that the most vital voices in oncology are those of the patients. As part of this call for papers, we encourage patients with breast cancer, previvors, and survivors to submit to our Patients' Corner.

We welcome original viewpoints and personal narratives detailing individual experiences with therapeutic regimens, navigation across healthcare systems, experience using digital health tools (including teleoncology solutions and mobile applications), and constructive perspectives on how breast cancer clinical workflows and patient care can be enhanced.

Submissions to the Patients’ Corner are entirely exempt from article processing fees (APFs). We want to ensure there are no barriers to sharing your invaluable perspectives with our global readership of researchers and clinicians.
