(Toronto, February 17, 2026) JMIR Publications invites submissions to a new theme issue titled Bridging Data, AI, and Innovation to Transform Health in its open access journal JMIR Bioinformatics and Biotechnology . The premier, peer-reviewed journal is indexed in PubMed- and Scopus and is the official journal of the MidSouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society.

This theme issue explores the convergence of computational biology, artificial intelligence (AI), and health care innovation. As AI continues to revolutionize diagnostics, treatment, and drug discovery, the journal invites researchers, clinicians, and technologists to share original research and insights that pave the way for a future of precision medicine and enhanced patient care.

This open call for papers will also accept submissions from the MCBIOS 2026 Conference (March 27-29, 2026, Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL). Conference participants are highly encouraged to submit their expanded research and findings to this theme issue.

The scope of this call for papers includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

AI in medicine: innovative applications of machine learning and deep learning in diagnostics, treatment modeling, and personalized medicine.

Computational genomics and precision oncology: breakthroughs in genomic data analysis, and epigenetic regulation to transform cancer research and treatment.

Radiogenomics and imaging: AI applications in radiology, image analysis for tumor detection, and integration of imaging with molecular data.

Drug discovery: computational modeling and AI-driven pipelines for accelerating drug development and repurposing.

Large-language models (LLMs): innovative applications of LLMs in genomics, bioinformatics, and related data, including analysis of clinical text, tabular data, and web-based bioinformatics tools.

Digital twins in healthcare: computational patient modeling, virtual cohorts, predictive simulation, and AI-enabled genomic digital twins for genomics-driven personalized medicine and health care optimization.
