(Toronto, April 1, 2026) JMIR Publications is proud to announce the appointment of Dr Amy Shirong Lu as the new editor-in-chief of JMIR Serious Games .

Dr Amy Shirong Lu is an associate professor at Northeastern University with joint appointments in communication studies and public health and health sciences. She directs the Health Technology Lab, where she and her team study the psychological, physiological, and behavioral science of the design, implementation, and evaluation of digital health technologies, integrating theory-driven intervention research with cutting-edge interactive media such as active video games, extended reality (XR), and mobile apps to promote physical activity, cognitive health, and well-being across the lifespan. Drawing on interdisciplinary methods that span experimental design, physiological and behavioral measurement, and qualitative inquiry, her work has substantially shaped our understanding of how narrative, interactivity, and embodied engagement can motivate sustained health behavior change and improve health outcomes via digital health interventions.

We are delighted to have Dr Lu join the JMIR Serious Games leadership team, where her expertise will be a vital asset to our editorial process and the broader research community.
