Your belly fat could be making you hungrier

Researchers at the University of Western Ontario discovered that abdominal fat tissue produces a hormone called Neuropeptide Y (NPY), which stimulates fat cell production. This novel finding may lead to new therapeutic targets for combating obesity, including the development of a simple blood test to detect increased levels of NPY.

Omega-3's no help for Crohn's sufferers

A large-scale study published in Journal of the American Medical Association finds that omega-3 fatty acids offer no benefit for preventing relapse in Crohn's disease. However, patients who took omega-3 supplements experienced significantly lower triglyceride levels, a risk factor for heart disease.
