For patients with diabetes, ticagrelor reduced heart attacks, strokes

The THEMIS trial found that ticagrelor, when added to aspirin, reduced the risk of cardiovascular death, heart attack, or stroke by 10% in patients with stable coronary artery disease and diabetes. However, patients taking dual antiplatelet therapy also experienced a greater risk of major bleeding.
